We help members address the factors that may keep them from accessing providers, such as language barriers, transportation, appointment availability, mobile units, sensitivity to addiction issues, community resources, and more.
Whether as the CEO of a joint venture between Intel and GE, leading innovation at Humana, founding and selling his own company in behavioral health, serving as the President of Health & Wellness for Walmart U.S., leading one of the premier at-home diagnostic companies, BioIQ, or currently as CEO of a premier specialty benefits company, Avēsis, Sean has impacted almost every sector of healthcare over the past 30 years. He had the honor of being named Healthcare Leader of the Year by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in 2015 and the seventh most influential person in healthcare out of the top 100 by Modern Health Magazine in 2019.
Sean possesses nearly 30 years of executive experience in the health and wellness field. He entered his first executive role at TriHealth as the Vice President of Health Status Management. Sean then moved to work as the Executive Director for Health and Wellness at Mercy Health Partners before starting his own company called Lighthouse Health and Fitness Inc. which he led for 6 years. Once Sean moved on from his company, he became the CEO and Co-Founder of Hummingbird Coaching Services which he led for another six years before stepping away. Sean then worked as President of Health and Productivity Solution and Vice President of Innovation at Humana for three years before leading Care Innovations as CEO for two-and-a-half years. From 2018–2020, Sean worked with Walmart as their Senior Vice President of Health & Wellness before moving to BioIQ to serve as CEO for a year. Now Sean leads Avēsis as the current CEO.

As the Chief Human Resources Officer, Allison oversees the entire Human Resources department and develops strategies that help to promote sustainable growth within the company, as well as ensuring employee satisfaction and retention through various policies. She works with departments throughout Avēsis to be able to address the differing needs of each department’s employees.
In 2006, Allison began her career in human resources executive leadership with EWI Inc. She worked with EWI for three years before working for her alma mater, University of Arkansas, as the Executive Assistant to the Dean & Associate Provost. She would then move on to the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching to serve for five years as the Director of Support Services and Operations where she worked with her support team of six managers to carry out online training and technical support for clients. Allison would then go on to work at Walmart for four years and climbed the ladder quickly to the position of Senior Director of Walmart Health. She moved on from Walmart to serve as the Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at BioIQ for a year when she moved to Avēsis where she serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer.
Brian has enjoyed many executive roles throughout his career in executive management, business development, sales and solutions, and entrepreneurship. Brian consistently demonstrates his ability to successfully create, scale, and improve organizations of any size and always puts the customer and stakeholders at the forefront of the conversation.
Brian’s professional experience began in 2003 when he served as a legislative aide for Marlowe & Company where he worked on the development of various advocacy campaigns. He moved on to work at USIS where he began as a Business Development Manager, but, over the course of five years, rose to the position of Capture Management Executive leading the company’s business development activities. Brian then went on to serve as Vice President of Government Services for a year with Protection Strategies Incorporated, and Vice President of Business Development for a year at Culmen International. He would then go on to work at The RAIL Group for five years as the Managing Director. From 2017–2022, Brian would work at DentaQuest serving as the Vice President of Business Development and Vice President of Commercial, Individual, and Exchange. In September of 2022, Brian joined Avēsis as the Executive Growth Officer where he leads all business development and sales strategy initiatives.
Garrett is an experienced Legal and Compliance executive with demonstrated success at public and private companies, top national law firms, and the U.S. Department of Justice. He currently serves as the Chief Legal Officer at Avēsis. As a Legal and Compliance leader, Garrett focuses on mitigating risk, solving problems, managing change, and helping his business team navigate a complex and evolving regulatory environment. Garrett is committed to fostering a culture of integrity and ethical behavior while simultaneously helping his business operate with speed and efficiency.
Garrett’s experience ranges from development of new “startup” business lines to transformation and reinvention of existing programs for mature business lines. He has over 20 years of legal and compliance experience ranging from work with the Department of Justice to private legal counsel. Garrett began his career as an Associate in 2000 at Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP in the D.C. area. He later went on to work as an Assistant U.S. Attorney, Senior Associate, and Trial Attorney before he became the Vice President & Senior Associate General Counsel at UnitedHealth Group from 2012 to 2018. Garrett remained in both an executive role and in the health and wellness field when he went on to work at Walmart as the Vice President of Global Health & Wellness Compliance Officer from 2018 to 2021. Garrett is now the Chief Legal Officer at Avēsis where he helps to foster an environment that not only focuses on ensuring the best interests of the customers but is in compliance with the ever-changing legal landscapes of the states where Avēsis operates.
Sclar joined Avēsis in 2021 as the Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Sclar brings over 10 years of medical experience to Avēsis and works to ensure that our providers are up-to-date with changing health regulations and industry trends. He works with our executive leadership performing oversight functions and providing insight to improve overall outcomes.
With over 10 years of experience in the medical field, Dr. Sclar is well versed in the intricacies of the industry. He performed his residencies at both Washington University and Johns Hopkins University then moved on to work at the Johns Hopkins Innovation Hub as both a Leader Designer and Innovator in Residence. Dr. Sclar worked in these positions for two years then moved on to Ingenios Health as the Chief Medical Officer where he spent two years. Later, he would move on to BioIQ again as the Chief Medical Officer for four years. In 2021 he would join Avēsis in his current role as Chief Medical Officer. Thanks to his former executive experience, he has been skillfully guiding Avēsis in decision making efforts and providing superb leadership to the various departments within Avēsis.
Karim is a seasoned healthcare executive with more than 20 years of operating experience leading the transformation and value creation efforts of various managed care and healthcare organizations. He brings a wealth of executive and consulting experience, as well as a unique background in both managed care and the delivery side of healthcare. Throughout his career, he has led several high-impact efforts combining payers, community partners, and physician practices to create evidence-based, scalable, and financially sustainable solutions to population health problems at a local level. Karim co-developed the go-forward strategy and executed the operational improvement plan of a Fortune 100 national health plan that repositioned the organization for enduring growth in Medicare Advantage.
As COO of Walmart Health & Wellness, Karim transformed the pharmacy business to create a simpler and more efficient patient experience through operational improvement, automation, and the repositioning of the pharmacist as health advisor. He also co-led the strategy development and delivery efforts of the first Walmart Health clinics aimed at democratizing access to care in rural areas with a suite of omnichannel care offerings that are low cost, equitable, trusted, and meet consumers on their terms. During his time at Deloitte as advisor and interim executive, Karim drove the execution of a bold strategy that accelerated the shift of a Fortune 100 national healthcare company from a managed care company with elements of health, to a health company with elements of insurance to better address the needs of local populations.
Matt brings more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry with specific focus on the insurance and healthcare sectors. He is responsible for overseeing all finance, accounting, pricing, underwriting, and strategy efforts for Avēsis. Matt primarily focuses on the development, implementation, and communication of our short- and long-term financial, strategic, and operational plans. He leverages strong cross-functional partnerships to develop and drive initiatives that produce top- and bottom-line growth.
In Matt’s career, which spans more than 20 years, he has served in various leadership positions. Previously, Matt served as Second Vice President of Finance for our Group and Worksite Markets business. In this role, he structured and led the division’s 20-person Finance Department. Before joining Avēsis in 2015, Matt was the Assistant Vice President of Strategic Initiatives for Hartford Financial Services Group and within five years was promoted to the role of Senior Vice President and Head of Corporate Finance for Hartford Funds. Prior to this, he was Aetna’s Director of Corporate Development and played an integral part in that company’s entry into the Medicaid marketplace.
